From 21 to 24 January 2026, DRT Agro participated in AGROmashEXPO 2026, held at the HUNGEXPO Exhibition and Congress Centre in Budapest. At Stand G47, the company presented its key product areas, including irrigation systems, autonomous power supply solutions and crop nutrition technologies.

The exhibition provided an opportunity to meet with existing partners and establish new contacts with agricultural producers and businesses from Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Austria. Throughout the four-day event, discussions focused on the practical implementation of irrigation projects, infrastructure requirements and the integration of multiple technologies within a single agricultural operation.

From agronomic expertise to project implementation

At AGROmashEXPO 2026, DRT Agro structured its exhibition around the practical requirements of modern agricultural operations. The focus was placed on the key questions that arise during the planning and operation of agricultural projects: water supply, irrigation infrastructure, stable power availability, fertigation and system reliability under field conditions.

This concept reflects DRT Agro’s belief that successful agricultural projects are built on agronomic knowledge and practical experience rather than on equipment selection alone. The starting point is understanding the requirements of a specific crop, local field conditions, water resources and production objectives. Based on this expertise, DRT Agro develops a cultivation and infrastructure concept for each project, then identifies the technologies and equipment required to implement it in practice.

The irrigation portfolio showcased by DRT Agro

A significant part of the DRT Agro stand was dedicated to irrigation technologies and infrastructure designed to support reliable water management in agricultural production. Visitors explored these systems across a wide range of agricultural applications.

The irrigation portfolio presented at the exhibition included:

  • beinlich hose reel irrigators;
  • pivot irrigation systems;
  • drip irrigation solutions;
  • sprinkler and rain gun systems;
  • water filtration equipment.

Alongside the equipment itself, discussions focused on system selection, irrigation planning and the operational requirements of field irrigation projects.

The most discussed solutions at AGROmashEXPO 2026

Among the technologies presented by DRT Agro, Beinlich hose reel irrigators and diesel generators attracted the greatest attention from visitors. Both product groups were presented as part of irrigation projects where water management and power supply must be planned together.

For many visitors, the interest in Beinlich irrigators was linked to their suitability for different field layouts and crop rotations, as well as their role in supporting irrigation across multiple locations with a single mobile system. Discussions around diesel generators focused on the practical aspects of autonomous power supply for pumping stations, filtration units, fertigation systems and field irrigation equipment.

DRT Agro presented generator solutions with different engine options, including John Deere and Baudouin, allowing power systems to be configured according to the requirements of individual projects.

Plant conditioners and foliar nutrition solutions

A dedicated section of the DRT Agro stand was focused on crop nutrition solutions, including Marine and Amino Calmag plant conditioners and the DOCTOLEAF foliar fertilizer range.

Discussions focused on the role of plant conditioners and foliar nutrition within crop management programmes. Visitors were particularly interested in approaches to supporting crops during periods of drought and other environmental stresses, as well as the integration of foliar nutrition into broader crop nutrition strategies.

Key takeaways from AGROmashEXPO 2026

AGROmashEXPO 2026 provided an opportunity for DRT Agro to demonstrate how irrigation, power supply and crop nutrition can be integrated within a single agricultural project. Throughout the exhibition, discussions consistently centred on practical implementation questions rather than on individual products, reflecting the project-based approach that underpins the company’s work.

For DRT Agro, exhibitions continue to play an important role as a forum for direct communication with partners and agricultural producers. Conversations at the stand focused on specific field conditions, infrastructure requirements and project objectives — topics that are often best addressed through personal dialogue rather than remote communication.

Introduction

Onion is one of the most sensitive crops to fluctuations in water and nutrient supply. Due to its shallow root system, concentrated in the top 30 cm of soil, the plant depends heavily on stable soil moisture and uniform nutrient distribution. In 2025, Breznik Farm in cooperation with DRT Agro implemented a project based on drip irrigation using well water and a fertigation program adapted to the field’s specific soil and climatic conditions. The goal was to achieve a healthy, uniform, and storable onion crop.

Advantages of drip irrigation for onions

Drip irrigation delivers water directly to the root zone, preventing excessive surface wetting and water stagnation, which are the main causes of root rot. This system can save up to 40% of water, reduce weed growth, and ensure uniform plant development. Thanks to stable soil moisture and the ability to apply fertilizers through irrigation, onions form firm, healthy bulbs with excellent storability.

Drip irrigation technology and importance of filtration

The system was designed according to the medium-loam soil type and the field layout. Drip tapes with 20 cm emitter spacing and a discharge rate of about 1 L/h at a pressure of 0.8–1.0 bar were used. This spacing ensures overlapping wetting zones and uniform moisture distribution within the active root zone (0–30 cm), where up to 80% of the onion roots are concentrated. Two drip lines per bed were installed, providing uniform watering across the entire width.

Water filtration plays a crucial role in maintaining system stability and uniform pressure throughout the network. Even small amounts of sand or organic debris can clog emitters over time, leading to uneven irrigation and plant stress. To prevent such issues, an A4 In Out 2×P2030 + HD-A4 filtration system was used, which includes a hydrocyclone and a dual automatic mesh filter with a self-cleaning function, mounted on a chassis with an integrated fertilizer tank for solution preparation and dosing. The system automatically flushes when the pressure differential increases, without interrupting water flow, ensuring stable pressure and even discharge across all drip lines.

Fertigation and agronomic supervision

Irrigation was performed in short, frequent cycles, maintaining soil moisture between 75–85% of field capacity. Fertigation was applied according to crop growth stages: nitrogen, phosphorus, and calcium during early growth; potassium, magnesium, and micronutrients during bulb thickening; and reduced nitrogen with increased potassium during ripening to improve dry matter content and storability. Fully water-soluble fertilizers from the Hydroponica and Novalon lines were used, along with micronutrient formulations Doctoleaf and Powerfol. Pesticides, including Binevia, were also applied through the drip irrigation system. The project was carried out under full agronomic supervision by DRT Agro.

Results of the 2025 season

By the end of the season, the farm achieved a yield of approximately 90 t/ha. Plants developed uniformly, with negligible losses. The onion bulbs were firm and consistent, with a dry matter content of 12–14%, and showed excellent storage performance without mass loss or signs of rot.

Conclusion

The results showed that the combination of drip irrigation, proper filtration and planned fertigation is key to successful onion production. DRT Agro technology made it possible to establish a stable irrigation regime and balanced plant nutrition, which was reflected in the quality and storability of the crop. If you are interested in this type of irrigation system, the turnkey project price depends on the size of the area. The cost of such a drip irrigation system typically starts from approximately EUR 2,150 per hectare.

In the modern world, where natural resources are under severe pressure, biostimulants play a key role in improving plant growth, increasing yields and maintaining ecological balance. They are actively used not only in agriculture but also in medicine.

What is a biostimulant?
Biostimulants are natural or synthetic compounds that stimulate physiological processes in living organisms. In agriculture, they promote plant growth and development, boost immunity and improve stress tolerance, for example to drought, cold or soil salinity. In medicine, biostimulants are used to regenerate tissues, improve metabolism and strengthen the immune system.

The main types of biostimulants are
Plant-based biostimulants

Marine algal extracts, humic and fulvic acids.
They accelerate photosynthesis, stimulate root formation and improve nutrient uptake.
Microbial biostimulants

Contain beneficial micro-organisms that improve soil quality.
Examples are Rhizobium and Azotobacter bacteria.
Organic compounds

Amino acids, vitamins, antioxidants.
They are used not only to support plant health, but also animal and human health.
Synthetic biostimulants

Growth hormone derivatives (auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins).
Used to accelerate fruit ripening and improve fruit quality.
